Summer Schools and Summer Academies

The Missouri Cadet Patrol Academy sponsored by The American Legion and Missouri State Highway Patrol will be held June 11th -June 16th, 2018.  Applicants must be between 16-18 years of age with a C average or higher.  Applications must be submitted by February 15, 2019.

Washington University in St. Louis will host “High School Summer Experiences” during the 2017 summer break.  This summer scholars program allows students to enroll in two undergraduate courses while living on campus or commuting from home.  Students are able to earn college credit and get an early taste of college life.

Washington University will also offer “Summer Institutes” where students are able to explore careers and majors in medicine, writing, archaeology, engineering, research, leadership, and more.  Visit www.summerexperiences.wustl.edu  for more information.

The University of Missouri – School of Medicine will offer an exciting and informative summer experience for high school students interested in a career in medicine.  This one week program allows students to preview the life of a MU medical student.  Interested high school junior who will be 2016 graduates can apply at http://medicine.missouri.edu/admissions/minimed.html  The deadline to apply is March 1, 2019.

MIZZOU will offer several engineering camps and workshops for interested high school students grades 9-12th.  Visit engineering.missouri.edu/k-12 for more information.  Information will also be posted on the bulletin board outside of the counseling office.

Murray State University will offer a Commonwealth Honors Academy this summer.  The academy will be June 10 – July 1, 2018.  Students can earn up to 6 hours of university credit.  To attend students should have completed their junior year of high school, have an ACT composite of 25 and have a 3.5 GPA.  To apply visit http://www.murraystate.edu/cha  The deadline to apply is March 1, 2019.  More information is available in Mrs. Heuring’s office.

SEMO will offer numerous summer camps at their Cape Girardeau campus.  They have Academic Camps in Band, Choir, Acting, and Robotics.  They have athletic camps in football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, gymnastics, and strength and conditioning. The University of Central Missouri Will host a Summer Graphics Experience on their campus June 19-23, 2019.  The cost is $90.00.  To register visit www.ucmo.edu/graphics to register.

Southeast Health will offer a Healthcare Professionals Camp on June 12-14, 2019.  The cost is $300.00.  Students will visit various areas of the Southeast Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences and visit Pediatrics, Surgery, ICU, OB, ER, and Imaging at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.  Enrollment is limited.  Visit Mrs. Heuring or SEhealth.org/HealthcareCamps for more info.
